What is a doula?

Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy or your bundle of joy. Why not have a doula to support you and your partner throughout this amazing experience.

Pregnancy and parenthood are amazing journeys, however, it’s ok to say I need support, as it can be an emotional roller coaster at times. I believe that providing emotional, physical, and practical support is the best way to encourage mothers so they can feel empowered in the decisions they make.

All women need to know that they are fully capable and that there is always someone by their side to fix their crowns. You are enough!

About Me

I am Ann Marie Thompson.
I live in Bellingham, London with my husband and five amazing children.
I have worked in the early years sector as a childcare practitioner. Working from baby, toddler, and pre-school room leader to managing a childcare setting.

I am a caring and spiritual person.

I am able to remain calm in stressful situations.

I am a good listener and I believe that providing a listening ear can prove invaluable during and after your pregnancy as there can be lots of information thrown at mothers to be. I want to help you listen to your own instincts.

My aspiration as a doula is to empower the mother. To help build confidence and give you a voice during and after your pregnancy.

I believe that empowering you in the choices you make during and after your pregnancy will make your journey a magical experience.

I want you to know that you are a strong, confident, and capable woman.

“When I was pregnant in 2020 I was extremely scared and anxious. I was made homeless and had no where to go. I contacted Ann for advice and she calmed me down and told me everything was going to be ok. She took the time out and advised me on housing and signed post me the the relevant people that could help. I had regular contact throughout my whole pregnancy, she gave me advice and guidance as I was so anxious. At one stage of my pregnancy I couldn’t feel any movement and Ann came to the Hospital with me so I could get checked out. I was very grateful as she dropped everything just to be there. Ann sat down for hours with me to create a birth plan, she was very patient with me and explained very clearly each part of the plan. Ann even offered to be there at my birth but due to covid restrictions she was unable to be there. Ann supported me after the baby came. She came to my house and told me all I need to know. I had no one, but felt reassured that Ann was only one phone call away. Lots of issues popped up with my baby and she became very unwell. My baby had jaundice and I didn’t know. Again Ann told me what to do and advised me to go to the hospital. I’m very grateful for her advice as my baby had to stay in and receive light therapy. Overall Ann was the support that I never received from the healthcare professionals and I just want to say a massive THANK YOU. You are absolutely amazing at your job, you went above and beyond and for that I can’t thank you enough.”

“Ann really helped put my mind at ease when I had concerns over my newborn Granddaughter, I contacted Ann and she gave great advice and sent me in the right direction. No question was to much and knowing Ann was at the end of a message if I needed advice or reassurance helped me relax, in turn helping my daughter relax too.

Thank you so much.”
